INEC issues Certificate of Return To Hon Obinna Chidoka

he independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has just issued certificate of return to Hon Obinna Chidoka, the duly elected member of Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in the general election of February 23rd, 2019.

Hon. Chidoka was issued the certificate of return moments ago at the INEC National Headquarters in Abuja by the Executives of the commission, after revoking the previous certificate issued to Ifeanyi Ibezi of Apga.

Recall that, on Tuesday last week, the Appeal court sitting in Enugu ordered INEC to issue a certificate of Return to Obinna Chidoka of PDP, after sacking Ifeanyi ibezi of Apga who found to have illegally obtained INEC Certificate of return and the said seat for over 4months, in a election Hon Obinna Chidoka won with a land slide victory in February.

Surprisingly, Hon Obinna Chidoka was today accompanied to pick up his certificate of return from INEC by his constituents residing in Abuja who are currently rejoicing and thanking God for finally answering their prayers by giving them the legislator of their choice whom they voted for.

It’s a happy day for Ndi Idemili!!
Power belongs to the people!!! #IdemiliForChidoka

PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI SIGNS BILL CO-SPONSORED BY SENATOR IFEANYI UBAH INTO LAW IN LONDON TODAY

PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI SIGNS BILL CO-SPONSORED BY SENATOR IFEANYI UBAH INTO LAW IN LONDON TODAY

The post below was written by Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, the Senator Representing Anambra South Senatorial district, as Buhari signs into law a bill he co-sponsored:

To the glory of God, today being November 4, 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari assented to the Bill amending the Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contract Act which will generate at least $500m additional revenue for the Federal Government in 2020, and over $1bn from 2021.

With the signing of this bill into law, which is by far the biggest and one of the most historic legislation to be signed into law in our country, Nigeria will earn an additional income of $1.4 billion annually from international oil companies operating in the country.

It is indeed a thing of pride and fulfillment that the motion on the “Urgent need to review and recover additional revenue accruable to the Government of the Federation from the production sharing contracts was presented by me on October 2, 2019. Whereafter, this bill was co-sponsored by my humble self and Senator Bassey Albert Akpan on October 4, 2019.

I feel privileged to have co-sponsored this bill which has attracted tremendous commendations from Prominent Nigerians such as from Abba Kyari; Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria and also, the Senate President, His Excellency; Dr Ahmad Lawan who described the bill as groundbreaking and the fastest bill to be passed in the history of the Senate. Hence, affirming my stand as the Prince of the Ninth Senate.

It would be recalled that the President, during the 2020 budget presentation to the National Assembly noted that amendment of the act is one of the priorities of the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN), as it has the capacity to generate additional revenue of at least $1.4billion which will aid FGN in achieving the proposed 2020 budgeted revenue.

It is historic that within six months, we have been able to successfully achieve this long awaited feat which has deprived our nation of accruable revenue running into billions of US dollars since 2003. This is a trailblazing and historic feat which has never been matched in the history of the National Assembly.

I want to thank my Committee Chairman; Senator Bassey Albert Akpan who worked tirelessly to ensure that this milestone is achieved. The passage of the bill would not have been achieved without your relentless effort.

May I use this opportunity to commend and express my gratitude to the Senate President and my fellow Distinguished Colleagues for their immense contributions and unanimous expression of support which aided the smooth passage of the bill.

Let me also thank President Muhammadu Buhari for exhibiting faith and utmost belief in the Ninth Assembly as he has today signed the PSC bill into law.

Conclusively, I thank my family, friends and supporters who have shown enormous support through their good words and unwavering confidence in me. I will continue to fashion out legislative interventions for the development of my Senatorial District, the South eastern economy and Nigeria at large.

THERE IS A BOBRISKY IN EVERY COMMUNITY IN NIGERIA

THERE IS A BOBRISKY IN EVERY COMMUNITY IN NIGERIA

IF BOBRISKY’S EVENT WAS DISRUPTED simply because of his lifestyle and social activities, then we have lost it as a nation. In our society, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the character of Bobrisky. He is neither the only cross-dresser in Nigeria nor the first to be popular – and no law in Nigeria discriminates against cross-dressing.

Bobrisky’s homosexual insinuations remain an innuendo and are not enough evidence to infringe on his fundamental rights as a citizen. If cross-dressing is a crime, the law should extend its justice to Charles Oputa (Charly Boy), and the popular DenreLe. The police should also go to every part of the North and arrest the young males whose culture promotes cross-dressing in festive periods. They should go to Igbo land and arrest male dancers at occasions that dress like females.

Crossdressing In Other Parts Of Nigeria

Take Anambra State for an example, most traditional dance groups that entertain guests at public functions are males in female costumes. There is absolutely nothing different from these dancers general activities and what Bobrisky offers. Only that Bobrisky employs the virtual world and reaches a wider audience.

The northern part of the country is not left out. There are festivals – mostly by the Fulani group – where all young men dress in female attire.

Bobrisky, for taking his genre to another level, has not committed any crime. If there was any other thing he did that demanded police attention, then, it would be a different case.

Bobrisky, no matter how you put it, is an entertainer. His attitude has created for him a niche. People talk about him, and Social Media – both local and international – reacts always to his scandalous suggestions. Most times, he does things to get us talking – and always, we talk.

Stopping Bobrisky from exercising his fundamental freedom of expression only makes him more popular. For this act by the police, Bobrisky is now trending and gaining followers on all his Social Media handles. Even if Nigeria stops Bobrisky from parading himself, more people would fill the gap he has already created.
